Hanwha Vision Announces Key Trends in the Video Surveillance Industry for 2025

Global vision solution provider Hanwha Vision (CEO An Soon-Hong) has unveiled its forecast for key trends in the video surveillance industry in 2025, presenting insights into the evolution of intelligent video surveillance technologies and market shifts. Generative AI, cloud technologies, the expansion of open AI ecosystems, efficiency improvements through integrated solutions, and the reinforcement of data protection and transparency are emerging as key drivers reshaping the paradigm of the video surveillance market.

Hanwha Vision explained that generative AI is improving the efficiency of event searches through natural language search functions in cloud-based video surveillance systems. The company also predicted that this technology will expand to local servers and edge AI cameras. Currently, generative AI is used to analyze stored video data to search for specific events, but in the future, edge AI cameras are expected to independently understand and assess situations, providing real-time alerts.

Intrusion detection and fire detection solutions are expected to evolve by leveraging AI technologies to go beyond traditional methods, analyzing behavior patterns and contextual information to make more precise judgments and respond more quickly on behalf of users. Hanwha Vision forecasted that generative AI would evolve to the point of analyzing the flow of time and event connectivity, enabling tracking of objects across multiple cameras.

Ryu Jung-Woo, Senior Vice President of Product Planning at Hanwha Vision, stated, “The fusion of generative AI and advanced Re-ID technology enables the creation of more accurate and efficient object-tracking systems. By identifying specific movement patterns, video surveillance systems can enhance crime investigations, search-and-rescue efforts, traffic management, disaster response, and even operational efficiency and marketing insights through visitor behavior analysis.”

The expansion of the AI ecosystem is emerging as a pivotal turning point for the video surveillance market in 2025. Moving past the era of standalone AI technology development, open collaboration to build and expand AI ecosystems has become a key competitive factor. Hanwha Vision offers solutions like the AI Box, which provides advanced AI capabilities such as object detection, classification, and video analysis while maintaining existing infrastructure. This allows customers to optimize their systems and maximize efficiency across various environments such as retail and smart factories.

Cloud technology, which maximizes the value of data utilization, has established itself as a critical technology in the video surveillance industry. The cloud-based AI solution, SightMind, supports real-time data processing and analysis across cities, retail, and manufacturing sectors, enabling efficient and swift decision-making. In urban environments, it can analyze traffic flow, adjust signal timing automatically, or detect and address urban issues in real time.
