On January 17, 2025 (local time), Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited the National Cybersecurity Institute (NASK) in Warsaw, Poland, to discuss cooperation in digital transformation and cybersecurity. NASK, a leading institution in Poland for research on the internet, digital transformation, cybersecurity, and information security, served as a crucial venue for strengthening collaboration between the two countries.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Vietnam is accelerating its digital transformation and building a digital ecosystem, including a digital government, economy, society, and citizens. He highlighted efforts to expand national databases and utilize technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, blockchain, and the Internet of Things (IoT) to align with global trends. He also underscored the importance of ensuring sovereignty and security in the national cyberspace throughout this process.

The Prime Minister expressed Vietnam’s interest in learning from nations like Poland that have achieved significant milestones and in enhancing cooperation to address global challenges collectively. Key areas proposed for collaboration include strengthening digital infrastructure, formulating cybersecurity systems and policies, expert exchange and personnel training, and establishing an early warning system for large-scale cyberattacks.

This discussion further emphasized Vietnam’s role as a global leader in digital transformation, especially in light of the United Nations selecting Hanoi as the signing venue for the 2025 “UN Cybercrime Convention (Hanoi Convention).” The Prime Minister reiterated Vietnam’s commitment to cooperating with the world to ensure global cyber safety and security.

Specifically, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed cooperation with Poland to protect key digital infrastructures such as financial systems, energy, transportation, and public services, foster a healthy cyber environment, prevent the spread of disinformation, and establish safety mechanisms for digital service users. He also highlighted the importance of building multilateral mechanisms, sharing information and data on cyber threats, and developing international standards through collaboration between Vietnam and Poland.

This meeting is expected to mark a pivotal step in strengthening collaboration between Vietnam and NASK, further advancing the digital transformation and cybersecurity capabilities of both nations.
